The Joint Institute for Innovation Policy is an initiative of VTT, Joanneum Research, Tecnalia and TNO with the aim of creating a strong international research institute to support the internationalisation of innovation and innovation policy. The work is firmly based in the deep knowledge of technologies and sectors of the mother organisations.
More specifically, JIIP:
- carries out front-line multidisciplinary research on innovation and technological change, the international factors and actors affecting them, and their economic, social and ecological impacts,
- uses a generic macro-perspective and with a perspective on technology domains, social and business sectors and linking the local with the global,
- supports strategic choices and decision making by EU´s innovation policy-makers and other clients that seek a European and international perspective,
- actively inspires internationalisation strategies of its owners based on the knowledge of the environments in which they operate,
- is a not-for-profit unit and takes as a starting point the broader public interest in innovation in which its owners, clients and stakeholders try to make a difference.
