New European Commission service offers technical and financial advisory support for up to 20 Sustainable Urban Mobility projects


The European Commission's DG for Mobility and Transport has hired the services of JIIP/ TEUC who will help you to assess the investment readiness of your project, identify investment opportunities and connect you with investors and financiers. The focus will be on deployment of new mobility services and electromobility, linked with the action cluster Sustainable Urban Mobility of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities.

At Your Service


You are:

 A public or private organisation looking to deploy smart mobility services or e-mobility solutions in or for your city or region;
 Open to a constructively critical appraisal, where we – with the help of investors and funding agencies – assess the viability of your project;
 Already involved or interested in the action cluster Sustainable Urban Mobility (AC SUM) of the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC);
 Struggling to overcome the valley of death.

We:

 Help you assess the investment readiness of your project;
 Identify investment opportunities from traditional funding as well as alternative and mixed finance models;
 Connect you and your project partners with investors and financiers.

Our focus:

 new mobility services;
 e-mobility solutions;
 mature projects from: SCC-01 Lighthouse projects (including follower cities), FP7 and Horizon 2020 funded projects (transport challenge, CIVITAS and Horizon 2020 SME instrument phase 2).

Webinar - Clean Bus Deployment Initiative


On 20 Septemeber 2017, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Support Office(Joint Institute for Innovation Policy and The Extremely Useful Company) on behalf of the European Commission organized a webinar part of the follow-up on the Clean Bus Deployment Initiative launch for the European Commission last 13th July (https://ec.europa.eu/transport/themes/urban/cleanbus_en).
The webinar aimed to look at some case studies and discuss opportunities to address the implementation of the initiative.
After a brief introduction, made by Robbert Fisher (JIIP) on the Sustainable Urban Mobility Support Office service and Juan Carlos Espada (JIIP) on the webinar structure, a panel of the four guest speakers followed with their presentations. Mr. Alain Van Gaever, Policy Officer of DG MOVE- Intelligent & Sustainable Transport Unit, presented an update on the Clean Bus Declaration and next steps; Mr. Marc Vanhoutte, Director of Fleet Buses from Transdev Corporate, talked about a case of the Clean Bus Deployment in the Netherlands; Ms. Carlien Roodink, expert on innovative financial solutions from Joint Institute for Innovation Policy, showed a picture of matching funding and blended finance models. Ms. Birgitte Keulen and Mr. Per Als, from Cleaner Transport Facility of the European Investment Bank, presented the Clean Bus financial instruments available and the case-based package approach to give innovative financial solutions to address the transition towards cleaner transport solutions.
