On 20 Septemeber 2017, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Support Office(Joint Institute for Innovation Policy and The Extremely Useful Company) on behalf of the European Commission organized a webinar part of the follow-up on the Clean Bus Deployment Initiative launch for the European Commission last 13th July (https://ec.europa.eu/transport/themes/urban/cleanbus_en). The webinar aimed to look at some case studies and discuss opportunities to address the implementation of the initiative. After a brief introduction, made by Robbert Fisher (JIIP) on the Sustainable Urban Mobility Support Office service and Juan Carlos Espada (JIIP) on the webinar structure, a panel of the four guest speakers followed with their presentations. Mr. Alain Van Gaever, Policy Officer of DG MOVE- Intelligent & Sustainable Transport Unit, presented an update on the Clean Bus Declaration and next steps; Mr. Marc Vanhoutte, Director of Fleet Buses from Transdev Corporate, talked about a case of the Clean Bus Deployment in the Netherlands; Ms. Carlien Roodink, expert on innovative financial solutions from Joint Institute for Innovation Policy, showed a picture of matching funding and blended finance models. Ms. Birgitte Keulen and Mr. Per Als, from Cleaner Transport Facility of the European Investment Bank, presented the Clean Bus financial instruments available and the case-based package approach to give innovative financial solutions to address the transition towards cleaner transport solutions.
